Hanson Funeral Monday
The funeral services for Martin Hanson, 87, of Waukon were held on Monday afternoon from Martin Bros. funeral parlors to St.John's Lutheran church and were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Nelson Preus. Burial was made in the family lot in Oakland Cemetery. The death of Mr. Hanson occurred Saturday morning at his home on E. Main St. following a six months illness.
He was a native of Norway where he was born Feb. 9, 1864. When 11 years of age he came to Allamakee county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson, and settled on a farm northeast of Waukon. On Jan. 4, 1889 he was married to Bertha Olson at the West Paint Creek Church and the past 20 years Waukon has been their home. He is survived by three daughters and six sons, namely: Miss Mabel and Mrs. Emma Jones; both at home; Mrs. Arthur Heckman, of Decorah; Albert, at home; Herman, Alfred, and Arthur, all married and living in Waukon; Olaf, Decorah; and Melvin, Waupaca, Wis. There are 7 grandchildren. Mrs. Hanson died on Feb 2, 1944 and a daughter, Mrs. George Kerr of Decorah, died in 1941.
