Selma Frink, age 101, of Waukon, died Wed., Aug. 8, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Sat., Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with the Reverend David E. Schafer officiating. Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home handled funeral arrangements.
Selma Johnson Frink was born Jan. 20, 1900, on the rural Waterville Paint Creek Township farm of her parents, Mathias and Anna (Geving) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, and attended Paint Creek Bryson Country School through eighth grade.
On May 29, 1929, Selma married Myrl Frink at the Reverend Van Nice home in Waukon. Selma and Myrl lived in Davenport for several years. They then moved to Park Rapids, MN, where they lived during the summer months; during the winter months, the couple lived in Texas. Selma moved to the Good Samaritan Center in 1991.
Selma enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, and loved flowers. She was a very jolly person and always had a smile.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myrl; four sisters, Nora Hansmeier, Ida Lund, Bertha Olson, and Martina Stadsvold; and four brothers, Albert, Bernhart, John and Melvin Johnson.
Survivors include four nieces, Alphia Kolsurd of Waukon, Inga Olson of Austin, MN, Lillian McConnell of San Antonio, Texas, and Joyce Kuhse of Postville; and two nephews, Hjalmer Olson of Waukon and Ted Johnson of Dubuque. Several great-nieces and nephews also survive her.
Casketbearers were Greg and Barton Hamm, Ted Johnson, John Hansmeier, and Donald and Carlton Larsen.
