Services Held For G. A. Fenton
Funeral services for George A. Fenton were held Saturday Dec. 8, 1979 at 1 p.m. at Highland Lutheran Church in rural Hesper, Iowa. Rev. Oscar Engebretson officiated at the service. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Minert Cemetery, rural Postville.
George A. Fenton, son of Benton Roscoe and Mary (Hillhouse) Fenton, was born Jan. 14, 1903, at Verona, Missouri. He passed away Dec. 7, 1979, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, Decorah, at the age of 76 years.
He attended Cornell University at Ithica, New York.
Feb. 21, 1940 he was united in marriage with Charlotte Meier at the home of her parents near Postville. They were the parents of three children. The couple farmed in the West Union and Clermont area until moving to their present farm near Hesper in 1953.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Charlotte, a brother, Wyatt, and a sister, Mrs. May Nichols.
He is survived by two sons: Robert of Washington, Iowa and James of La Mirada, California; a daughter, Judy of Waterloo; four grandchildren; and a brother, E. K. Fenton of Woodburn, Oregon.
