FUNERAL SERVICES FOR STELLA STUNES

Funeral services for Stella G. Stunes, 79, Waukon, were set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31 from Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. She died Monday, July 28 at Veterans Memorial hospital in Waukon.

She was born Feb. 24, 1901 in Winneshiek county, the daughter of Henry and Lydia Becker Grotegut. She married Roy Flage May 18, 1921 in Allamakee county. He died in July 5, 1944. Feb. 1, 1957 she and Melvin Stunes were married in Florida. He died May 31, 1966.

A son Donald Flage of Waukon survives, as do four stepchildren: Mrs. Dwight (Jean) Shafer of Milwaukee, WI; LuVern Stunes of Sacramento, CA; Paul of Texas and Lloye of Marion. One grandchild, two great grandchildren and a brother Calvin Grotegut of Decorah also survive.

Preceding her in death were brothers Walter and Reuben. She was educated in the local schools, and was a housewife and seamstress. She was a member of Zion church and church groups. The Rev. Marlyn Hansing officiated, and burial was in Salem cemetery, Ludlow township.

Casket bearers were Robert and Victor Stuckman, Ralph Helming, Roger Grotegut, Neil Sanderman and James Campbell.

Martin funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
