Postville, Ia. - Charles Boyden of Waukon, Allamakee county coroner, said Tuesday that C.C. Meyer, 54, farmer three miles northeast of Postville, took his own life by hanging himself in the hayloft of his barn. The body was found at 7:30 p.m. Monday by his sons, Clinton and Robert. Coroner Boyden said Meyer had been having spells of despondency. Besides the two sons, he leaves his widow and a daughter, Helen. The body was brought to the Schutte funeral home.

Postville, Ia. - Allamakee County officials said here Tuesday that no inquest would be held in the death of C.C. Meyer, 54-year-old farmer living northeast of Postville, who committed suicide Monday night by hanging himself in the hayloft of his barn. General despondency was given as the cause of his act.
Meyer's body was found about 7:30 p.m. by his two sons, Clinton and Robert, after they had been summoned to search for their father by Mrs. Meyer. The sons live on nearby farms.
The body was removed to the Schutte Funeral Home here, but no funeral arrangements had been made Tuesday.
Surviving are his widow and two sons; a daughter, Helen, at home; five brothers, Will, Fred, Louis, Henry and Edward, all of Postville and vicinity; and three sisters, Mrs. Edward Schlee, of Postville; Mrs. Elmer Hoth, of Waukon, and Mrs. Paul Kovenig, of Decorah.

Postville - Funeral services for C.C. Meyer, 53, who committed suicide Monday night at his farm by hanging himself, will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in St. Paul's Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Postville Cemetery.
Mr. Meyer was born June 25, 1889, near Castalia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Meyer. He was married Feb. 25, 1914, to Miss Amanda Foels, who survives with three children, Robert, Clinton, and Helen, all of Postville; three grandchildren; five brothers, William, Fred, Louis, and Henry, all of Postville, and Edward of Castalia; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Hoth of Waukon, Mrs. Paul Koevening of Decorah and Mrs. Edward Schlee of Postville.
