Lois E. Moose, 86, of Waukon, died Thurs., Oct. 19, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 21, 10:30 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Lois Elizabeth Moose was born Aug. 7, 1914, on the Volney area farm of her parents, Albert Preston and Minnie L. (Winters) Gilson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Volney Methodist Church and attended rural Volney area schools. On April 17, 1935, Lois married Gaylord J. Moose at the Methodist Church parsonage in Monona. Together they operated a diversified farm in rural Volney until his death in 1987. In 1990, Lois became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, where she had since resided.

She was currently a member of Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. Lois enjoyed playing cards with her friends, embroidery, gardening and raising flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her home was often the location of special events and Sunday dinners.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gaylord; her son, Albert; and two sisters, Frances Miene and Geneva Wahls.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianne (Gary) Hermeier, Stoddard, WI; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Moose, Monona; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Rooney, Prairie du Chien, and Hazel Beisker, Littleton, CO.

Honorary casketbearers were Willis Johanningmeier, Lawrence Krueger, Bob Drahn, Jim Rooney, Allen Wahls, Lyle Moose and Charles Fick. Casketbearers were Leland, Richard, Jim and Doug Moose and Glenn and Michael Hermeier.

Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
