Suckow Rites Held Saturday

Funeral services for Lester Suckow were held Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. interment was in the Postville cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Lester Fritz Suckow, son of Fred and Sophia Schave Suckow, was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Fayette county near Castalia. He died Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

He was baptized in Castalia and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran church, Maynard, on April 13, 1930. He attended the rural schools in Fayette county.

On Feb. 25, 1937, he was married to Lillian Hanson at West Union. To this union five children were born. They farmed on various farms in Fayette county and in 1964 they moved to their present home in Frankville.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Kathy Solbrack; three brothers, one in infancy and Alphie and Charles, and a sister, Esther, Mrs. Merlin Bochman.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian; four sons, Gerald of Warner Robins, GA; Virgil of Hayfield, MN; Randy of Hanover, MN and Kevin of Waltham, MN; a daughter, Beverly, Mrs. James Solbrack of Peoria, IL; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Otto of Waterloo; Henry of Rossville, and Helmuth of Oelwein and three sisters, Viola Ihde of Monona; Ruth Helgerson of Postville, and Ruby Mabb of West Union.
