Rites Held For Howard Gordon

Funeral services were held last Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville for Howard Gordon, 72, who passed away at the home of his son, Harry Gordon at Luana on November 1. The Rev. L. W. Reuther, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Luana was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Born Near Postville

Howard Gordon was born a son of William and Catherine Gulick Gordon on a farm near Postville, April 1, 1883. He was baptized in infancy.

January 28, 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Thoma in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville. The young couple then lived in Postville. In 1937, after the death of his wife, the deceased moved to Gunder, where he dwelt until May of this year. Due to old age complications he then became a patient in the Gunderson hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin. After two weeks he moved to Luana, making his home with his son Harry Gordon. While there, he was in constant failing health. He passed away Tuesday, November 1, at about 1:00 a.m. He attained the age of 72 years and seven months.

His wife preceded him in death April 7, 1937. Three of his brothers also preceded him in death.

He is survived by: one son, Harry Gordon of Luana; and three brothers: John Gordon of Postville, Robert Gordon of Waukon, and Frank Gordon of Postville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
