Viola V. Berger, 92, of the Milwaukee, WI area, died peacefully at her residence at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa, WI, Saturday, October 10, 2009 after a brief illness. Visitation will be Thursday, October 15 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m., all at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Eternal Life mausoleum at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Jelacic Funeral Home of Milwaukee, WI is entrusted with the services.
Born in Waterville January 9, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Julia (nee Hellesvig) Hermanson, she married Edward J. Berger August 5, 1950 and they lived their lives together in Milwaukee until Edward’s death May 26, 2000, just shy of 50 years together. Viola was a longtime cashier at A&P Food Store in Milwaukee and truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and playing her concertina.
Although not blessed with children of her own, she is survived by many god-children, nieces, nephews and friends, including her sister Gladys (the late Harold) Drake; her brother Leland (the late Marilyn) Hermanson; and sisters-in-law Mary Jean (the late Eugene) Berger and Mary Jane (the late Ernest) Jaeger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, Henry and Julia; her sisters, Rosella (Bill) Weiss, Thelma (William) Slattery and Muranda (Waldo) Edwardson; her brothers, Hubert (Edna) and Vernon (Mildred) Hermanson; and her brother-in-law, Earl (LaVerne) Augustin.
