Obituary for Frank Manning (1907 – 1966) in the Allamakee Journal newspaper reads:
Frank Manning
Frank R. Manning, 58, of 3405 Richards St., Madison, Wis., died Saturday (Aug. 6, 1966) in St. Mary’s Hospital at Madison after a brief illness.
He had been working as a meat inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture, for the past 24 years at the Oscar Mayer plant at Madison.
He was born at Lansing, the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James J. Manning. He was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception grade school of Lansing, and the Waukon high school of Waukon.
He was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church parish of Madison. Also a member of the church choir, its Holy Name Society, and St. Martin’s Guild.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son Thomas, a student at Divine Word College, Epworth, Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. Charles Steffen, Milwaukee, Wis.
A funeral mass was offered on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Dennis Church, Madison, the Rev. Father J. C. Niglis officiating. A second funeral mass was offered on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing, the Rev. Father Hintgen officiating. Burial was at Wexford with the Rev. Father Hintgen officiating at the graveside ceremony. The Burke funeral home of Lansing was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Active casket bearers were Dan Bresnahan, Ray Crowe, Leo Mullarkey, Francis Kernan, Steve O’Neill and Charles Burke.
