Funeral services for Mrs. Leon Olson were held Saturday, March 7, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. in Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, IA. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated with Beverly Bacon as organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Neva Leota Olson, daughter of Albert and Minnie (Gunn) Bertelson, was born June 26, 1920 at Kennebec, South Dakota. She passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, IA at the age of 77 years, eight months and seven days.
She attended schools in Kennebec and was graduated from Postville High School in 1938. On October 17, 1946, she was united in marriage with Leon K. Olson at the Little Brown Church at Nasuha, IA. Neva had been employed as a bookkeeper at Hall Robert's Son feed and seed and Hygrade Food Products in Postville. She and Leon had made their home in Postville until she entered the Good Samaritan Center on October 15, 1996.
Neva is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Bertelson on November 26, 1987 and her stepmother, Myrtle Bertelson.
She is survived by her husband, Leon; a stepbrother, Robert Burns and his wife Barb of Postville, IA; two sisters-in-laws, Florence Bertelson of Sioux Falls, SD and Jean and her husband Harold Salmon of Howell, MI; three nephews, Craig, Keith and Gary; and a niece, Pamela.
Neva is a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Casketbearers were Frank Roedl, Robert Burns, Robert Grunh, Wm. "Bill" Harris, Donald Folsom and Winfield Masonhall.
