Brent Ronald Blietz, 24, of Monona died Friday, September 11 in Prairie du Chien, WI from injuries sustained in a work-related accident. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, September 16 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. The Rev. Allen Bidne officiated. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.
Brent was born March 26, 1985 in Waukon to Rickey Blietz and Penny (Stouffer) Blietz. He graduated from MFL/MarMac High School with the Class of 2003. Brent attended NICC in Calmar for two years majoring in communications.
Brent was united in marriage to Ashley Schultz August 23, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. One son, Brodyn Patrick Blietz, was born to this union.
Brent worked at Moore’s IGA and Spook Cave while in high school. For the past five years, Brent has been working for the Monona Greenhouse and Outdoor Creations in Monona. He loved his job and took great pride in the finished product of his landscaping work. During the winter months, Brent volunteered countless hours to his boys in the MFL/MarMac wrestling program as an assistant coach.
Brent enjoyed golfing, softball, fantasy football, bean bags, running, Chicago Cubs Baseball, North Carolina Basketball, Iowa Football and Wrestling and helping with the chains for the MFL/MarMac football program. Brent loved spending time with his wife, son and all of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by the many people who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Ashley Blietz of Monona; his son, Brodyn Blietz of Monona; his father and step-mother, Rick (Laurie) Blietz of McGregor; his mother, Penny Bugenhagen (special friend Don Nieland) of Monona; his step-father, Dale Bugenhagen of Luana; his father and mother-in-law, Tim and Carla Schultz of Monona; three sisters, Randee Blietz of Monona, Emily Blietz of McGregor and Erin Blietz of McGregor; his sister-in-law, Erin Schultz; his brother-in-law, Landon Schultz of Monona; one nephew, Carver Blietz-Bentien of Monona; grandparents Ron and Bette Keehner of Prairie du Chien, WI; great-grandmother Irene Keehner of Monona; great-grandfather Malin Schultz of Monona; grandparents-in-law, Lyle and Marion Johannsen of Monona; and numerous other family and friends.
Brent was preceded in death by grandparents Giles and Dorothy Blietz, and Charles and Hazel Stouffer, Sr,; great-grandparents George Keehner and Dorothy Schultz; grandparents-in-law Ron and Wilmarie Schultz; two uncles, Ronald Stouffer and Dean Blietz; and one aunt, Marcia Blas.
Casketbearers were Bob Davis, Ben Schlake, Mychal Moon, Burke Schrader, Justin Lang, Jeremy Schellhorn, Jon Johanningmeier and Ben Burton.
Leonard Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.
