Carol Jean Brewer

Carol J. Brewer, 73, of Waukon died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. There was no service, as Carol chose to be cremated. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted the family with arrangements.

Carol Jean Brewer was born December 25, 1935 in Waukon, the daughter of Creighton and Gladys (Hanson) Bender. She grew up in Waterloo, where Carol worked as a caretaker for most of her life. She enjoyed clamming and hunting oysters in South Carolina.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Jeanne) Nisius of Rockford, Corrine (Joe) Gerwitz of Las Vegas, NV, and Dick Vick, Jr. of Murrels Inlet, SC; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Rush of Rossville; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy McCormick; two brothers, Robert and Dick Bender; and a sister, Patricia Stuffelbeam.
