Arthur Marsden Dies Friday At Good Sam

Arthur Grant Marsden, 85, of Waukon, died Friday May 28 at the Good Samaritan Home. He was born Oct. 30, 1896 in Union Prairie township of Allamakee County, the son of James and Mary Jones Marsden. He attended rural school and two years of high school, was a farmer and a member of St. John's Lutheran church. He and Mildred Ellingson were married March 26, 1924 at the Waterloo Ridge parsonage. They lived on a farm in Union Prairie township and moved to Waukon nine years ago. He is survived by his wife. He was predeceased by four brothers, James, Louis, Frank, and Bert, and two sisters, Jessie Marsden Johnson and Maude O'Hare. Funeral services were held Monday, May 31 at 2 p.m. from St.John's church. The Rev. Marlyn Hansing officiated and burial was in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers were Willard Grotegut, Wesley Goeke, Donald Ellingson, John Marsden, Richard Hermanson Jr., and Irving Walsh. Hanson funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
