Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug 29 from Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona for Lola Helen Davis Cahalan, 79. She died Monday Aug. 26 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, where she had been a resident for the last seven months. She was born Oct 8, 1911 in Allamakee County, near Waterville, and her parents were Arthur and Belle Cayton Davis. She received her education in the Big Foot Elementary school. She and Roger Francis "Jiggs" Cahalan were married Jan. 12, 1958 in Prairie du Chien, WI. They lived in Prairie and Marquette for many years. She lived with her daughter in Waterloo the last few years. Survivors include her daughter Marcella Hermeier of Waterloo, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and a sister, Doris Svebakken of Waukon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger, who died in 1984; a sister, Dorothy Hamm, and a brother Jay Davis. The Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated at the funeral services, and burial was in Monona City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gene Thias, Roger Svebakken, Terry Hermeier, Don Mower, Rodney Bloxham and Dale Smith.
