Funeral services for Helma Noack were held Monday, March 6, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be held in the St. Paul Cemetery in Guttenberg at a later date.
Helma Ida Brandenburg Noack, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Wendt) Brandenburg was born April 29, 1900 in Volga Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died Friday, March 3, 1989 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa.
She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Church, Elkport, Iowa. Helma received her education in the rural schools near Garber.
On February 3, 1920 she was united in marriage to Clay Noack. They had three children. They farmed in Clayton and Winneshiek counties until retiring and moving to Postville in 1962.
Helma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 5, 1980 and a son, James, in infancy. She is also preceded in death by three brothers: Charles Jr., Arno and a brother Ralph in infancy; six sisters: Alma Troester, Bertha Webber, Roma Lindenberg, Leone Noack, Edna White and Alice Waterman.
Mrs. Noack is survived by one son, Virgil and his wife Marlene of Cedar Falls, a daughter, Marjorie and her husband Robert Schultz of Postville, grandchildren: Elizabeth Ellickson, Prairie du Chien, WI; Alan Schultz and his friend Kathleen Wallace, Decorah; Steve Noack and his wife Cathy, Saginaw, MI; Susan Noack, Ames; great grandchildren: Lee Ellickson, Jr., Decorah and Lynn Ellickson, LaCrosse, WI and a sister Mildred (Mrs. Earl) Hageman of Guttenberg.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
Casket Bearers were Alan Schultz, Steven Noack, Lee Ellickson, Jr., Walter Webber, Lowell Lindenberg, Melvin Webber, Lyle Hageman, Ronald White and Lawson Waterman.
