Final Rites For Joseph Fahey
A mass of requiem was said Saturday, Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church in Waukon for Joseph Thomas Fahey. The Rev Joseph Slepicka offered the mass and interment was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Leon Schulte, John Urell, John Baxter, Raphael Rae, Mark Byrnes and Pat Campbell were pallbearers. Bakke and Hanson was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Fahey was born Dec.21, 1889 in Union Prairie Township and was a son of Joseph and Katherine Cunningham Fahey. He attended the local schools and Sept. 15, 1925 married Mary Howes in St. Patrick’s church in Waukon. They were parents of five children.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Paul, Kenneth and Keith all of Waukon, and a daughter Evelyn, who is a student in St. Francis school of nursing in LaCrosse, Wis. A daughter Catherine died in 1948 at the age of 17.
Fourteen grandchildren, four brothers, James, John and Emmett of Waukon and Leo of Mobile Ala. And four sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Florence) O’Malley, Mrs. Francis (Mary) and Mrs. Clarence (Louella) Haas of Waukon and Mrs. Alvin (Stella) Johnson of Decorah, also survive. A sister Mrs. William (Sadie) Schwartzhoff preceded his in death.
Mr. Fahey died at his home Wednesday, Nov. 2 following a lingering illness. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and had lived on a farm until June of this year when they moved to Waukon.
