Melita Kathryn Roeder

Melita Kathryn Roeder, 82, of Lansing died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI following a short illness. Following her wishes there will be no public services. The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family.

Melita was born September 20, 1926 in New Albin to Otto and Alma (Diersen) Pottratz. She married Clyde (Bud) Roeder April 23, 1948. She worked at the Lansing Button Factory and operated Roeder's Tavern with Clyde for 25 years in Lansing. They later moved to Cedar Rapids, where she worked at Wilson's Farmstead Food Packing for 17 years. They retired and moved back to Lansing. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by three sons, Richard H. (Mary) Roeder and Robert A. Roeder, both of Lansing, and Roger L. (Susan) Roeder of Swisher; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and a sister, Marian Alexander of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; a brother, Marvin Pottratz; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Roeder.
