Funeral services were held Monday, October 7, for Harold R. Spores, 87, who died Thursday, October 3, 1991, at Northgate Care Center. Pastor Verdon Swenson conducted the 1:30 p.m. services at Martin Funeral Chapel. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery.

Born September 25, 1904, in Colesburg, Harold was the son of James W. Spores, Sr. and Martha (Davis) Spores. He attended Colesburg schools and January 18, 1993, he married Anna M. Schultz in Dorchester. He lived most of his life in the Dorchester area, and was a construction/maintenance worker for Allamakee County. They moved to Waukon in 1986.

Surviving are a son, Harold Jr. and his wife, Rita of Luana; three brothers, Spencer and his wife, Lois of Decorah; Donald of Waukon; and Glen of Waukon; a sister, Alba Kudart of Decorah; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died July 23, 1989; three brothers, Alfred, Roy and James; and two sisters, Blanche Schleicher and Lillian Knickerbocker.

Casket bearers were Gary Knickerbocker, Gaylord Spores, Paul Knoll, Calvin Beardmore, Darrell Spores and Norman Rosendahl.
