Glen Stanley Buege, 80, of New Albin, Iowa died Monday June 1, 2009 at his home following a short illness.

Glen was born April 1, 1929 in New Albin, Iowa to Stanley and Mary “Theresa” (Dennis) Buege. He graduated from New Albin High School in 1948. He married Catherine Shawley on July 11, 1950 at St. Joseph Church in New Albin. He worked as a shipping clerk for La Crosse Footwear Company for 42 years. He was very active in community affairs: serving on school and library boards, serving on many committees in church, and also worked as a policeman. He also played for the New Albin Indians baseball team as a pitcher.

He is survived by three children: Ken (Deb) Buege and Linda (Dave) Wild both of New Albin; Diane (Allen) Walleser, Houston, Minn.; eight grandchildren; five siblings: Marcella Althof, Stoddard, Wis.; Mae Blair, Wabasha, Minn.; Wayne (Gretchen) Buege, Robert (JoAnne) Buege and Grace Meyer all of Caledonia, Minn.; four sisters-in-law: Shirley Tischer, Elaine (Bill) Johnston, Kathy Shawley, and Rosemary (Jim) Burke.

He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine on Oct. 9, 1996; sister Ellie Meyer; brothers in law: Don Althof, Robert Blair, Gary Meyer, Charles Meyer, Wayne Shawley, Duane Tischer, and Norbert Wolf.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday June 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin.
