FLAVIA HAWKINS
Funeral services were held for Flavia H. Hawkins on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Schutte Funeral Home. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins passed away Tuesday of last week at the state hospital at Independence. She moved to the Postville community at the age of 10 years and had been a resident of this community since that time.
Flavia H. Hawkins, daughter of Daniel and Lydia Kelley, was born at Center Harbor, New Hampshire on May 14, 1863, and departed this life January 25, 1949 at the state hospital in Independence.
The family moved to Postville in March, 1873. Mrs. Hawkins has been a resident of this community since that time.
She was married to Henry Frederick Everts in September 1877. To this union was born four children, two of whom passed away, Irma May Everts and Lavinna Everts. Two children survive, Hermie Fredrick Everts of Calmar and Joseph Everts of Mason City.
She was married to Hirman P. Hawkins, October 4, 1900. He preceded her in death in December, 1928.
She is survived by, in addition to the two children, a half brother, J. P. Ellis of Postville; a half sister, Mrs. Gertie Krambeer of Greene, Iowa; and by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
