Loretta Mae Snitker
Loretta Mae Snitker, 79, of Center Point died Monday, March 30, 2009 in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Services were held Friday, April 3 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ben Snitker; her children, Connie (Bob) Short of Cedar Rapids, Carl Snitker of Cedar Rapids, Douglas (Sue) Snitker of Center Point, Jerry (Connie) Snitker of Cedar Rapids, Rodney (Christy) Snitker of Cedar Rapids, Michelle ( Brad) Erger of Brandon, and Kim (Brook) Peterson of Swisher; a sister, Mary Hermanson of Waukon; a brother, Bill (Jan) O'Hare of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren, Tina, Curt, Matt, Jeff, Reece, Skylar, Jared, Jordan, Caden, Ryan, Riley, Reid, Ross, Lehia, Lindsey, Austin, Kiley, Taylor and Trey; and three great-grandchildren, Blake, Siara and Danny.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Curtis Snitker; and a brother-in-law, Dick Hermanson.
Loretta was born March 10, 1930 in Waukon, the daughter of Jerry and Maude Marsden O'Hare. She married Ben Alvin Snitker January 23, 1948 in Waukon. She enjoyed camping, fishing, Black Hawk Park on the Mississippi, and their cabin on the Wapsipinicon. Loretta loved to visit with people. Her family was very important to her and she often would call them her little peeps. Her children would like to thank dad for the love and care he gave mom during her illness.
