Funeral services were held Friday, 2:00 p.m. , at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, for Lloyd F. Putnam, who passed away July 11, at Community Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Dick Harberts was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Lloyd Putnam, son of Surreno D. Putnam and Emma Dean Putnam, was born on August 22, 1890 in Winneshiek county, Iowa. He has lived most of his life in this area. He received his formal education in the Winneshiek county rural school.
On December 28, 1921 he was united in marriage to Anna Bruene at Gladbrook. The couple made their home in Postville.
The early years of Lloyd's manhood were spent doing construction work. After several years in the United States Navy during World War I, he operated a harness and hardware store in Postville. This he later sold and returned to the construction business working with Otto Sander & Son of Postville until his retirement.
He was a member of the former Congregational Church and upon merger with the Methodist Church joined the Community Presbyterian Church on January 7, 1923 together with his wife.
He is also a member of the American Legion, Odd Fellows Lodge and Masonic Lodge, all of Postville.
Lloyd passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville on July 11, 1967, at the age of 7 years and 11 months. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sisters: Bertha Putnam and Hattie Putnam Dresser; a twin brother, Floyd; and a brother Ray. He is survived by his wife, Anna G. Putnam and other relatives and a host of friends.
