"Brief mention was made in our last paper of the finding Thursday afternoon of the dead body of Mrs. Sophia Schulz in her home on the park. The old lady had been seen but a short while before attending to some chores outside her home. Miss Minnie Hefty chanced to enter the house and was horrified to find the old lady lying dead on the floor near the stove.Augusta Sophia Schulz was born March 27, 1823, at Altenberg, Germany and had resided here many years. Her husband Wm. J. Schulz died here about eleven years ago. She had only one child , Mrs. Lee, now residing in North Dakota. With a son, she came to the funeral which was held Monday at 2:30 from her late home, interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. A. Kegel officiated.
A granson, William Lee, who had often visited her in past years, and who is better known here as Will Buck, wrote her from Kansas City a few days after her burial making inquries as to her health.
We understand some money was found in the house, so the aged women was not in the least dependent upon others. She had been a hard worker in her day and was frugal and economical."
