Miss Bertha Putnam Is Laid To Rest On Monday Afternoon

Miss Bertha Putnam was born in the year 1872 and died at the home of her mother, west of Postville on Wednesday evening, July 4, 1928, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 12 days, her demise bringing to a close a life that had known much of physical suffering.

When a small child she was brought to the present home where she has since resided. She was a lover of her home, but because of poor health spent several months in other places trying to regain her strength. One winter was spent in California, which she enjoyed, but at the same time was suffering. She was always bright and cheerful and could always see the bright side. She was an example to us all and to know her was to love her.

She united with the Congregational church at Postville during the pastorate of Rev. Childress.

She leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Mrs. Emma Putnam; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Dresser of Emmett, Idaho; and two brothers, Ray and Lloyd of Postville.

The funeral was held from the Postville Community church Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Paul Krebs of Waukon. Interment in Postville cemetery.
