Memorial services for a former Postville resident, Bertha M. Palmer who died at Manor Care, Westmont, Ill. May 31, 1980 will be held Saturday, July 12, 1980 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David R. Nelson officiating. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville is in charge of arrangements. Burial was held previously in the Postville Cemetery.
Bertha M. Palmer was born in Postville, Sept. 13, 1980 (sic), the daughter of John M. and Adelaide (Harrington) Thoma. Educated in the Postville schools, she studied piano at Chicago Conservatory of Music and was subsequently employed as a pianist in theater orchestras in several mid-western cities. Following her marriage to Lloyd E. Palmer July 15, 1921, in Cheyenne, Wyo. the couple returned to Postville where they operated a motion picture theater, The Iris, for many years.
The couple later moved from Postville to Anoka, Minn. in 1956 where they resided until his death in 1962. Since then she had made her home in Elmhurst, Ill.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by two sons, Lloyd J. of Oak Brook, Ill., and William R. of Houston, Texas; her sister, Mrs. Donald (Ethel) Folsom of Postville; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Submitters note: the birth date for Bertha M. Palmer is given as Sept. 13, 1980. This is an error that the newspaper made, not me. I typed it like the paper printed it. Also in Mr. Palmer's obit the paper printed their wedding date as 1920; this obit printed it as 1921. Again, I typed it like the newspaper printed it.
