JAMES NELSON ENYART
James N. Enyart, son of Wright and Ellen (McWilliams) Enyart, was born October 10, 1894 on a farm in Allamakee county, Iowa and passed away at the Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa, August 20, 1966. He received his education in the rural schools of this county and grew to manhood in this vicinity. He was a veteran of World War I and served with a Motor Transport Unit in France.
On October 19, 1921 he was united in marriage to Frieda Martens of Postville. They were engaged in farming in this community all their lives until they retired and moved to Postville a few years ago. To this union was born three sons: Hartley of Waukon, and William and Donald of Postville.
Mr. Enyart was a member of the Forest Mills E. U. B. Church and served as president of the board of trustees and stewards for many years. He was a faithful member of the church and a progressive worker in the community. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, and two grandsons, Jimmy Donald Enyart and Joel Milton Enyart. He leaves to mourn his passing his three sons; three brothers, Hollis of Postville, Russell of California, and Leo of Arizona; also two sisters, Ethel, Mrs. Louis Powell of Waukon, and Flossie of California; 16 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 23, at 1:30 p.m. from the Forest Mills E. U. B. Church with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Military rites by the American Legion were conducted at the cemetery.
