Herman Hartbauer (1873 – 1913)

Just before noon today the body of Herman Hartbauer, the tailor, was found dead in his room in the old home on Front Street. He had been ailing for some days as a result of a recent spree and death was the consequence. James Clancy, who lives in part of the house and had been looking after him a little during his illness, made the grewsome (sic) discovery. Coroner Strock was notified but gave orders to have one of the local Justices view the body and hold an inquest, if necessary. Deceased’s sister, Mrs. L. T. Kirsch, of Chicago, now at San Francisco, CA, who will doubtless direct the funeral arrangements of the unfortunate victim.
