John H. Buntrock

John H. Buntrock, 78, of South Pasadena, FL, formerly of Waukon, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Graveside inurnment service was held October 22 at Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines, FL.

John graduated from Waukon High School in 1947. Entering the Army, he was stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. December 28, 1955 he married Gretta Sass of Dubuque, a school teacher in the Waukon Public Schools.

John graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked his whole career for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA.

They raised a family of three children, Bonnie (Steve) Chisholm of Palmdale, CA, Ross Buntrock of Alpharetta, GA and Sheila (Dave) Haut of Roseville, CA.

During his many years with Lockheed Aircraft, he and his family lived in Munich, Germany for two years, working with engineers at a Lockheed plant there.

His first marriage ended in divorce. In the early 1980s, he married Katherine DiBicarri. After his retirement from Lockheed, they moved to St. Petersburg, FL.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Carol Buntrock of rural Lansing.

Surviving are his wife; his three children; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Jane (Bill) Tepesch of Waukon; and cousins Karla (John) Ice of Cedar Rapids, Joyce (Lowell) Hoyle of Indianola, Virgil Buntrock of Emmetsburg, Ralph Buntrock of Gilbert, AZ and Celia (Dale) DeSart of Ralston.
