Margaret J. RosendahlHOKAH, Minn. — Margaret J. Rosendahl, 86, of Hokah died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
She was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Waterloo Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, to Martin and Josephine (Auna) Droivold. She married Arthur Rosendahl on June 11, 1938, in Waterloo Ridge Church, Dorchester, Iowa. Margaret baby-sat for many of her friends’ children as well as taking care of her own family. When Arthur retired, she went to work at St. Francis Hospital as a meat cook for nine years. She enjoyed baking, cooking, bird watching and reading books. Margaret spent the last two years at Claddagh House in La Crescent, Minn.
She is survived by five children, Mavis (Lyle) Kruckow of Hokah, Carol (Marlyn) Meiners of Caledonia, Minn., Roger Rosendahl of La Crosse, Terry (Julie) Rosendahl of Hokah and Nancy (Matt) Von Arx of Hokah; 13 grandchildren, Eric Kruckow, Karen Mann, Douglas Kruckow, Brian Meiners, Jason Meiners, Allen Rosendahl, Roger Rosendahl Jr., Scott Rosendahl, Kristie Blochwitz, Chad Rosendahl, Cari Rosendahl, Bradley Von Arx and Melissa Nissalke; 19 great-grandchildren James, Travis, Christina, Skylar, Jessica, Angela, Brianne, Alex, Hunter, Lillie, Abbie, Scott, Casey, Nathan, Owen, Riley, Brandon, Isabel and Kendall; one great-great-grandchild, Cameron; one sister, Ellen Rilling of Hesper, Iowa; and one brother, Dale (Shirley) Droivold of Spring Grove, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rosendahl on June 6, 2003; and two sisters, Alma Shefelbine and Palma Nelson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 414 Main St., La Crescent. Pastor Steven Wall will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Hokah. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schumach-ernKish Funeral Home of La Crescent, and from noon until the time of services Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hokah.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carmel and the staff of Claddagh House for mother’s care the past two years and also to Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.
