LeRoy Leas passed into eternal rest September 5, 2008 in Yuma, AZ, where he was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
There will be graveside services for family and friends Saturday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, located two miles north of Rossville near Hwy. 76 on Evergreen Road. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ken Kimball.
Leroy was born July 1, 1930 to Vinton and Clara (Hanson) Leas in Rossville. He attended Waukon Public Schools and graduated in 1949. He was then employed by Allamakee County in road maintenance and engineering.
December 10, 1949 he married Clarice Christensen of Lansing. They have one son, Kermit. In 1957, the family moved to Arizona, where LeRoy was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as Department of Roads Supervisor, where he worked until retirement.
Upon retirement, LeRoy spent much of his time hunting and fishing. One of his great pleasures was elk hunting and all different types of fishing with his son and other friends. He also enjoyed coming back to Iowa in the summers, spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors and fishing on the Mississippi River.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice, and his son, Kermit, both of Yuma, AZ; two sisters, Eileen Olloff of Freeport, IL and Joyce (Lowell) Siegele of McGregor; three sisters-in-law, Audrey (Clayton) Ricker of Strawberry, AZ, Coreen (Herb) Werner of Salem, OR and Donna Trumblee of Hiawatha; one brother-in-law, James (Kay) Christensen of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Loren Leas; a brother-in-law, Nee Olloff; and his nephew, Robert Christensen.
