Obituary--Mrs. G. H. Leppert
Mrs. Mattie Nora Bakewell Leppert was born in Lansing township Allamakee county, Iowa on April 14,1884 and passed to her reward on Sunday. March 13, 1927, at the Lutheran hospital, LaCrosse, Wis. The remains were brought to the home of her parents in this city Monday noon, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Geo. Leppert, and brother, George Bakewell, of Maywood, Ills. who had been called to LaCrosse.
Mrs. Leppert had been ailing for the last few years and was confined to the hospital for about five months prior to her death from typhoid fever. Medical aid was rendered in every way possible for the recovering of her strength but seemed of no avail. The deceased was a good Christian mother. She loved her Master, and during her illness she wou1d say: "I am not alone, Jesus is always with me." One sweet solemn thought was hers. She loved her family and prayed that the Lord would take care of them if she would no be permitted to go back home. Some of the deeds such as a teacher in the Sunday School, Secretary of the W. F. M. S., a member and leader of the Christian Alliance and others are works which will long remain in the memory of her friends and which will crown her life in glory. The family devotion in her youth and her home: lead her to take a definite stand for the Christ during the Evangelistic meetings conducted by Rev. LaCour. Mrs. Leppert joined the French Creek Methodist Episcopal church on Aug. 13, 1916, remaining a faithful member until she heard the call of the Master in the church triumphant.
The deceased was united in marriage to Mr. George H. Leppert on Sept. 22, 1909. Four children were born to this union.
Mrs. Leppert leaves to mourn her death her kind husband, the four children, Reuben, Luel1a, Maynard and Dorothy, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Bakewell, four brothers; Benjamin of Eagle Bend, Minn., Harry of Kasson, Minn., George of Maywood, Ills., Arthur of Chicago, Ill., and many other friends and relatives.
Interment will be made in Oak Hill cemetery at Lansing, this Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Arthur C. Prust will officiate and will be ,assisted by Reverend N. Ernest Bottom pastor of the Federated church.
