Mrs. R. L. Van Nice

Waukon, Ia - Special: Funeral arrangements were being made here Monday for Mrs. R.L. Van Nice, 85, whose death occurred at her home Saturday following a lingering illness.

Her husband is a retired minister, having served for more than 30 years as pastor of the local Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Van Nice is the former Ida Turrentine and she was born at Marionville, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Turrentine. She taught school at the completion of her education and on Feb. 10, 1885 was married to the Rev. Mr. Van Nice. They immediately came to Waukon where the home has since been made.

Mrs. Van Nice established Waukon’s only greenhouse, which she conducted until she sold the business several years ago.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Charles of Roberts, Ill, Roy of Park Ridge, Ill., and Horace of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother Horace Turrentine of Waukon; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Whaley of Cedar Rapids and Maude Turpentine, also of Waukon.
