Last Rites for Mrs. George Gelo

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Catholic Church for Mrs. George Gelo, 50, of Waukon. Interment was in Mount Olivet cemetery. Gerald Kurth, Donald Deal, Clem Larkin, Lloyd Bechtel, Walter White and Howard Kickson were casket bearers.

Mrs. Gelo, who was a lifetime resident of Allamakee county, died Friday, Sept. 12 in Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital and was in ill health for several months.

She was born Oct 22, 1918 in Jefferson township and was a daughter of Earl and Phoena Evans Ralston. She attended Waukon high school and Nov. 18, 1940 married George Gelo in Waukon.

She is survived by her husband, a son Francis of Cedar Rapids, two daughters, Mrs. Delmar (Janet) Kostman of Postville and Mrs. Orlando (Donna) Moen of Decorah, and eight grandchildren.

Other survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Milo (Beulah) Livingood of Postville; Mrs. Reuben (Marjorie) Schutte, Ossian; Mrs. William (Roberta) Livingood, Castalia; and Mrs. Wilbert (Lucille) Topel of Milwaukee, Wis., and three brothers, Gerald of Los Angeles, Calif.; Dale, Kansas City, Kansas, and Leon of Waukon. A brother Curtis preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gelo was a member of St. Patrick's Church. Martin Brothers was in charge of arrangements.
