Lena M. Hirth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hirth, was born near Lansing, Iowa, May 10, 1872, and died at her home in Lansing, Thursday November 4, 1926, aged 54 years, 5 months, 25 days.

She was married to John Decker February 27, 1894, and she and her husband resided on a farm in Lansing township till ten years ago, when they moved to Lansing. One child was born to them, a blessing to their home in childhood and young womanhood, and her mother's constant companion during the months of suffering which have just ended.

While her health was never the best, she was able to do her work up to about nine months ago.
Since February of this year her suffering has been intense, but she endured it with Christian patience and fortitude, realizing some time ago that she could not recover.

She leaves to mourn her departure the faithful and devoted husband, the daughter, Mrs. Edna Aschom of Lansing; the aged father and mother, who live near Lansing; one sister, Mrs. G.F. Wendel of Mason City, Iowa; three brothers, Charles Hirth of Lansing township, and Roy and William Hirth of Medberry, North Dakota, beside many oither relatives and a great host of friends.

Early in life she was converted and joined the Methodist church, and on February 20, 1924, she and her husband transferred their membership to the Federated church at Lansing. She died in the triumph of a living faith, saying to her husband in her last moments, "I shall soon go to be with my dear Savior."

The tribute which we would all desire most when we are about to be laid away--the tribute of praise, confidence and affection from those who have known us best-- is the tribute which is being paid to this departed sister. "Devoted to her home and her family, loyal as a friend, loving her flowers and everything that is beautiful, faithful to her Lord and His church," this is the tribute which is being paid by those who have known her through the years. What higher tribute can there be?

Funeral services were held at the home in Lansing, Sunday afternoon, November 7th, conducted by Rev. N. Ernest Bottom, pastor of the Federated Church.

The body was laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery.
