Mrs. F. Willacy Dies on Saturday
The death of Mrs. Frances Willacy occurred Saturday at the Waterman home where she received care for nearly five years. She would have been 77 years old in January and her maiden name was Frances Spieler of the Church vicinity. She was twice married, her first husband being Henry Engelhorn, both preceded her in death.
Surviving is a son Oscar Engelhorn of El Segundo, Calif., who arrives today, and two brothers, Jacob and William Spieler of Rice Lake, Wis.
Marin Bros. have charge of the funeral which will be held from the funeral home to the Congregational church at Church. Final details await the arrival of her son. Burial will be in the Lansing Ridge cemetery.
Relatives of Mrs. Frances Willacy were informed of her death at Waukon on Monday. For many years as Mrs. Henry Englehorn she lived at Church.. She was formerly Frances Spieler. Following the tragic deaths of Mr. Englehorn and her son Walter, she went west and remarried and Mr. Willacy died suddenly, leaving her alone again. A son Oscar and family live at El Segundo, Calif. Mrs. Willacy was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Ben Decker and the fifth death in Mrs. Decker's family during the past year.

Date: 2/1/2009The funeral of Mrs. Frances Englehorn Willacy will be held tomorrow Thursday afternoon from the Martin Bros. funeral parlors, Waukon, to the Congregational Church at Churchtown. Services were conducted by the Rev. C.H. Willemssen of Lansing and interment was made in the family lot in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery by the side of her husband who died some years ago. Mrs. Willacy passed away at the Waterman nursing home in Waukon where she had been cared for the past five years.
As Frances Spiegler she was born January 5, 1875 on a farm northeast of Waukon , a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Spiegler. On Dec. 23rd,1902 she was married to Henry Englehorn of that vicinity and they established their home on a farm near Churchtown on Highway No. 9 where his death occurred. While in California some years later she married C.J. Willacy and while stopping over in Denver, Colo., for a visit with relatives enroute to Iowa she died suddenly. She is survived by an only son, Oscar Englehorn, of El Segundo, Calif., who arrived to make the funeral arrangements Tuesday. Other survivors are her two brothers, Jake and William Spiegler of Rice Lake, Wis,. who make their home with the former’s daughter and family.
