Father McMahon Drowned
A sad case of drowning occurred at Pictured Rocks, near McGregor, Wednesday when Father McMahon was drowned. It appears that Father McMahon, of Cherry Mound, Allamakee county, had been there for the past few days visiting Father O'Donnell. In the morning he accompanied Father O'Donnell and Sheehan to Pictured Rocks. They all went bathing and Father McMahon, getting beyond his depth, and not being able to swim, was drowned. The body was recovered this afternoon, and will be taken to Cherry Mound for interment. He was about 32 years of age, and had been in this country about eight years. He was formerly stationed at Garner, but was transferred to Cherry Mound one year ago. - Lansing Mirror~The Graphic (Postville), June 13, 1895
