Well Known Man Dies

CHarles F. Feuerhelm was born in Staffelde, Prussia, Germany, Nov. 24th, 1843. At the age of 12 years he came with his parents to this country settling near Waukesha, Wisconsin. In Feb. 1867, he came to the state of Iowa and located in Lansing township, Allamakee county. In 1864 he enlisted in Co A, 1st Wisconsin Cavalry regiment and for nine months served in the civil war. He was united in marriage to Margaret May, September 10th, 1868.

This union was blessed with seven sons and one daughter. After his marriage brother and sister Feuerhelm settled on a farm in Lansing township, Allamakee county, Iowa, where they toiled for a livelihood all of their married life.

Brother Feuerhelm died of a complication of diseases at his home Dec. 18, 1914, at the age of 71 years and 24 days. He is survived by a sorrowing widow, the eight children who were present at the funeral services, sixteen grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, relatives and friends.

He was converted under the administration of Rev. L. Scheurer in 1874. Later on he united with the Evangelical Association and was true to God and the church until death. He filled with faithfulness and devotion the offices in the church as class leader, steward and Sunday school superintendent.

The widow has lost a devoted husband, the children a noble father, the church a good and loyal member. Our loss is his gain. He died as he lived. His end was peace and victory. God grant a happy reunion in the nobler life. Brother A. Goetze of Dubuque assisted at the services.

OLD SOLIDER SUMMONED
Lansing, Ia. - Dec. 22.-Special- Charles Feuerhelm, an old soldier, passed away at his home in Mays Prairie, death resulting from dropsy. The deceased was born in Berlin 71 years ago and when a young man emigrated to Wisconsin where he lived for a few years. At the outbreak of the Civil War he joined the 1st Wisconsin cavalry and at the close of the war he located on a farm at Mays Prairie. He is survived by his wife and the following children; Will, Reuben, Charles, Arthur John, Oliver, Clarence and Ellen.
