W. B. Gelo, a Former Resident Here, Dies in La Crosse Hospital

Lansing relatives and friends were aapprised Monday of the death that day at Grandview hospital, LaCrosse, of William B. Gelo, former well known resident. He suffered a heart attack last Friday at his farm home near Galesville, Wis., and was taken to hospital, where he passed away Aug. 10th.

Deceased was born at the family home at Dorchester, Iowa, Jan. 23, 1878. At Waukon on April 15, 1902, he was married to Emma Anderson of Center. For a number of years they lived on his home place there, then a couple of years farming at Freeburg, Minn., moving to Lansing about 1910. Will following his trade as carpenter. They bought the old T.P. Grant home on Diagonal street, now owned by Otto Koch, but Mrs. Gelo's health failed after about 12 years and they went to Florida to live. There Mrs. Gelo died about Sept. 3, 1925, and was brought home to Lansing for burial.

After his first wife's death, Mr. Gelo disposed of his Florida and lansing property and went to Mabel, Minn., working again as a carpenter. There he married Miss Ella Saensland, who now survives him. They lived there until three years ago, when they went to Galesville, Wis., and engaged in farming, residing there at the time of his death...

Also surviving him are three brothers, Fred, of Waukon; August, River Falls, Wis., and Herman, of route 2, Lansing; one sister Anna, and an half-brother, Charles Gelo, of Mason City; besides a host of old friends who will regret to read of his passing.

The remains will be brought here from Galesville tomorrow and the funeral held from the German Presbyterian church in Lansing Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. C. H. Hoffman, the pastor, of churchtown, officiating at the services there and at the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery, where inter ment will be --- Casket bearers will be Messrs. N.C. Martinsen, Fred Schafer, E.B. Gaunitz, George Aschom, W. O. Severson and John H. Thompson.
