Death of Civil War Veteran.

Henry Graham, son of John and Martha Graham, was born in Green County, Ohio, July 12, 1844, and passed away at the home of his son Frank in this city Nov. 1, 1930, aged 86 years, 3 months and 19 days.

He came west with his parents when a boy and they settled on a farm at Albert Lea, Minn. He enlisted in the army Dec. 3, 1863, at Canton, Minn., in Co. A 2nd Cavalry, and served for three years, being honorably discharged April 2, 1866.

He was united in marriage with Lucinda McClintock at Frankville, Iowa, March 28, 1872. To this union there were born three sons.

In the spring of 1875 he moved to a farm near Rossville for a short time, and then removed into Rossville and operated a blacksmith shop and hotel for forty-five years. In 1920 he moved to Waukon, where he resided until the death of Mrs. Graham Oct. 27, 1928. Since that time he has made his home with one and another of his sons.

He is survived by his three sons, Frank of Waukon, Iowa, James of Chokio, Minn., and Herbert of Prosper, Minn. Also by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Graham united with the Presbyterian church of Rossville Feb. 25, 1894. Some years afterward he was elected and ordained an Elder in that church and served them acceptably for several years in that capacity. After removing to Waukon he asked and received a letter from the Rossville church and united with the Presbyterian church of Waukon, remaining a member until death.

Funeral services were held at the Rossville church, Monday, conducted by Rev. Duckett of Monticello, and by the pastor, Rev. Van Nice, burial in the Odd Fellow Cemetery.

Rossville, Ia., Nov. 5 - Funeral services for Henry Graham were held Monday afternoon at the Rossville Presbyterian church, with interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Rev. Leonard Duckett of Monticello and Rev. R.L. Van Nice of Waukon officiated. Members of the W.R.C. and the Ralph D. post of the American Legion of Waukon were in attendance and assisted in the burial services.

Honorary pallbearers were three veterans of the Civil War, D.A. Walker and Mr. Pratt of Waukon and George W. Beall of Rossville.

Mr. Graham was the son of John and Martha Graham and was born in Greene county, Ohio, on July 12, 1844. As a child he came west with his parents to Albert Lea, Minn., where he grew to manhood.

On Dec. 3, 1863 he enlisted in the army at Canton, Minn., and served until the close of the war receiving his discharge on April 2, 1866. On March 28, 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Graham of Frankville, Ia.

In 1875 the family moved to near Rossville where they resided on a farm for several years. For the past 45 years, however, Mr. and Mrs. Graham conducted the Rossville hotel, known far and wide to the traveling public because of the generous hospitality extended the guests. Mr. Graham also conducted a blacksmith shop.

In 1920 Mr. and Mrs. Graham moved to Waukon where they resided until the death of Mrs. Graham in 1928. Since then Mr. Graham has been making his home with his sons.

In 1894 Mr. Graham joined the Rossville Presbyterian church where he was a faithful member and regular attendant. For years he served as an elder of the church. He was a charter member of the Allamakee lodge, I.O.O.F. of Rossville and also of the M.W.A.

Mr. Graham died last Friday after a brief illness at the home of his son, Frank, in Waukon. Two other sons also survive. They are James of Chokio, Minn., and Herbert of Prosper, Minn.; also eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
