DOUGLASS --- At the residence of her son Robert, Ludlow twp., September 10th, 1889, Mrs. Catherine Douglass, aged 75 years, and 8 months.

Mrs. Douglass was born in Ayreshing, Scotland, in 1814. She came to this country and settled in Illinois in 1852 and two years later she made her home in Allamakee county, Iowa, where she resided until the day of her death. During twenty years of her life she lived a widow. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom survive her.

In Scotland, she was a member of the Presbyterian church. In the later years of her life she conformed to the religious customs of her sons family in which she made her home, though she did not become a member to the church which they belonged.

She died suddenly without apparent pain or regret. The funeral services conducted by Rev. D. N. Ma_on, at the late residence were largely attended. A long procession followed the bereaved kindred to the place of burial near Postville.
