Funeral services for Frank J. Roedl were held Friday, February 29, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa, with the Reverend Steve Brackett officiating. Special music was provided by Ramona Everman, organist and Kim Schutte, soloist. The Casket Bearers were Eugene Mork, Robert W. "Bill" Harris, Jr., Billy Schlee, Darrel Crawford, Harold Peck, and Marvin Berg, and the Honorary Casket Bearers were Clarence Everman, LaVerne Rose, Ada Roedl, and George Roedl. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. A Masonic Service was held Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Frank Joseph Roedl was born December 12, 1922, in Missoula, Montana, to Frank and Betty (Schmaus) Roedl. He passed away Monday, February 25, 2008, in the Good Samaritan Center at Waukon, Iowa, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 13 days.

Frank was baptized on April, 1923 by Father Dennis Meade and confirmed May 1937, by Bishop Gilmore, both in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Missoula. He attended elementary and high school in Missoula and graduated from Kinman Business College in Spokane, Washington with a degree in accounting.

On August 10, 1947 Frank was married to Florence Isabelle Grant in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Missoula. To this union a son, Frank Grant Roedl, was born. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and also in the U. S. Navy during World War II. They lived in Spokane until 1961 when they moved to Postville. Frank was an accountant for Hygrade Food Products. He was transferred by Hygrade from Postville to the plant in Canton, Michigan, where he worked until 1987. Frank then returned to Postville to live. He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon on October 5, 2007.

Frank liked to golf and was an avid sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Postville Pirates.

He is survived by his son, Frank Grant Roedl and his wife, Kristie, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, two grandchildren, Grant Joseph Roedl and Michael Connor Roedl, his special friend, Marie Schlee of Postville, a sister, Ada Roedl and a brother, George Roedl, both of Missoula.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence, and a sister-in-law, Ramona Roedl.

Frank was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 204 in Postville, and served as Grand Master in 1969 and 1970.
