Alice Murphy
Alice F. Murphy, age 88, of Janesville, WI died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Cedar Crest. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville, WI, with Fr. Randy Timmerman officiating. Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wexford Cemetery, Wexford. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schneider, Apfel, Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home and again Thursday at the Wexford Hall from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Alice was born in Churchtown April 19, 1919, the daughter of George and Romina (Beighle) Gramlich, and attended the rural school. Alice married Roy P. Murphy November 26, 1938 at Wexford, where they farmed until 1959. They moved to Janesville, WI and she had been employed by Oaks manufacturing in Elkhorn, WI, Gibbs Manufacturing in Janesville, WI and retired in 1984 from Accudyne, also in Janesville, WI. Alice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Janesville Senior Center, and enjoyed playing cards at the Gathering Place in Milton, WI.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marlys (James) Martelle and Phyllis Grams, both of Janesville, WI; six grandchildren, David (Chris) Martelle, Dale (Colleen) Martelle, Denise (Mike) Thompson, Deanna (Chris) Wallace, Dale (Sherry) Grams, and Tina Grams, all of Janesville, WI; 12 great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Carly, Morgan, Jordan, Evan, Jessica, Ethan, Lily, Cory, Jasmine, Tristan, and Taylor; and special friends Lyle, Ardy, and Julie Eddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; nine brothers, William, Robert, Emil, Elmer, Julius, Frank, Irvin, Henry, and Danny Gramlich; and three sisters, Selma Larson, Elsie Super, and Cora Jarstad.
