Bennie C. Rosendahl, 85, died Saturday, December 20, 1997, at Northgate Care Center, Waukon, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 22, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in English Bench Cemetery, rural Dorchester, Iowa.

Bennie Carlton Rosendahl was born April 20, 1912, in Sheyenne, North Dakota, the son of Anton and Clara (Sivesin) Rosendahl. At the age of three, he and his parents moved to the Dorchester, Iowa and Spring Grove, Minnesota area. He attended rural Allamakee and Houston county schools.

March 28, 1939, he married Lois Sires. They farmed in the Dorchester and Spring Grove area for many years. Bennie also worked in the road maintenance department for Allamakee county for 13 years.

February 23, 1979, Bennie married Viola "Susie" Livingood and they moved to Waukon.

Survivors include his wife, Susie; one son, Lee, and wife Naomi of Cassopolis, Michigan; a stepson, Mike Douglass and his wife, Helen, of Waukon; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma Beardmore of Dorchester; Stella Burmester of New Albin, Iowa; and Olga Evenmoe and Mabel Holten of Spring Grove; and three brothers, Norman of Waukon, Arthur and wife, Margaret, of Hokah, Minnesota; and Charles and wife, Shirley, of La Crescent, Minnesota.

Bennie was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois; his brothers, Eddie and James; and his sister, Verna Soride.

Pallbearers were Michael and Kevin Rosendahl, Kenneth Beardmore, David Holten, Dennis Soride and Greg and Terry Rosendahl.

Honorary pallbearers were former Allamakee County Road Maintenance Department coworkers.

Bennie C. Rosendahl, 85, of Waukon, died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon. Burial will be in English Bench Cemetery, rural Dorchester.

Friends may call today from 3 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
