Perry Adelbert Brainard, born July 27, 1921 at Waukon Junction, IA, passed away March 12, 2008 in Oklahoma City, OK. Perry is the son of Edgar Nathaniel and Margaret Zoe (Cole) Brainard. Around 1925, his family moved to Galena, IL and he graduated from a Rockford, IL high school. After high school he joined the Army and served 39 months in Europe and North Africa. He was involved in the Normandy Invasion. He was injured while being a Artillery Spotter. When he returned home to Rockford, he married Vernie Patterson of Hannabel, MO January 12, 1946. To this union he had one son, Perry Edward Brainard. This marriage ended in divorce. On June 4, 1949, he married Ida Mae Covert in Rockford. To this union, Terry Lee Brainard was born. Around 1968 they moved to Oklahoma. Ida passed away January 6, 1973. Latter, he married Ruby Beatrice Siler, and she passed away July 16, 1999. For the past several years, he has lived in a care home in Harrah, OK.
Perry was also predeceased by his parents, his sister Janet Ruth (Brainard) Groething, his brother, Edwin Lawrence and his wife Lena (Cipolla)Brainard, and a sister in law, Joan Marie (Streicher) Brainard. Surviving are his sons; Perry Edward and Terry Lee Brainard, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren; brothers Robert Virgil Brainard of Battle Creek, MI., and Clifford William and his wife Patricia Jean (Grier) Brainard of Rogers, AR. Perry was laid to rest at Arlington Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
