Kenneth Joseph Troendle was born December 29, 1929 in Waukon, the son of Silas and Loretta (McLaughlin) Troendle.
He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1947 and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette. As a young man he worked for Kaveny Gift Shop, Waukon Bowling Alley and the Soda Grill.
From January of 1948 to January of 1952 he served in the US Navy. Following his discharge he worked for Boeing Airlines, Diebold Lock and Safe Co. and American Machine and Foundry, all in the state of Washington. He returned to Northeast Iowa where he did surveying and construction work and worked at Club 10 for 13 years.
From 1972 until 2001 he and Coreen, his wife of 35 years, owned and operated K&C Tap in Waukon. Most recently he has done work for Blumenthal Lansing Co. in his home.
Kenneth was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was an avid reader, enjoyed old cars, history, and coin collecting. He was also a fan of all types of sports, but especially following the Chicago Cubs.
Kenneth died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah at the age of 74. Private family graveside services were held Saturday, August 7 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's School, any library, or Boy Scout Troop 64 in Waukon.
Survivors include his wife Coreen of Waukon; a son, Mark, of St. Cloud, MN; two stepdaughters, Barbara C. (Kevin) Johnson of Waukon and Brenda C. (William) Pedersen of Cameron, MO; and four sisters, Janet (Harry) Hite of Vienna, VA, Joan Robey of Manassas, VA, Pat Sorenson of Joplin, MO and Joyce (Mike) Regan of Waukon. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and John.
