Funeral services for Mrs. Selmer Reinertson will be held today, Oct. 31, 1990 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Don Furan officiating. Burial will be in the Postville Cemetery.

Alice Marie Reinertson, daughter of Ben and Betsy Augusta (Thorbjornson) Barness, was born Nov. 22, 1916 near Ossian, IA. She died Saturday, Oct. 27, 1990 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA.

She received her education in the rural schools near her home. On March 27, 1935 she was married to Selmer T. Reinertson in Winneshiek County, near Ossian. They farmed west of Clermont for many years. After the death of her husband she moved to Postville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Selmer, who died in 1974, 2 brothers, Conrad Barness, who died in infancy, and John Barness, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Surviving are 7 sons, Kenneth of Fayette; Burdell "Shorty" of Eldora; David of West Union; Lyle of Rochester, Mn; Carmen of Postville, Randy of Nampa, ID and LeRoy of Powhatan, AR; 2 daughters, Mrs. Darold (Arlene) Blaess of Harmony, MN and Mrs. Fred (Lorraine) Harrington of Postville; one brother, Ralph Barness of West Union; 4 sisters, Mrs. Borghild Strand, Mrs. Agnes Thompson and Mrs. Irvin (Florence) Osmundson, all of West Union and Mrs. Hilmar (Lillie) Berentson of Oelwein, 29 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Casket Bearers: Daniel Harrington, Mark Blaess and James, Jason, Donald, Marty and SP4/C Rodney Reinertson.
