Nora A. Ronnfeldt
Nora A. Ronnfeldt, daughter of William and Henrietta (French) Dundee, was born in rural Postville on Sept. 8, 1919. She died at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon on Sept. 25, 1993. She was 74.
Nora grew up near Postville and Volney. She attended the rural Allamakee County Schools near Volney. On Sept. 8, 1935 she married Chris Ronnfeldt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. She worked most of her life as a homemaker, but also worked some at the bakery in Postville prior to marriage. She also did some housecleaning work. She did plenty of sewing and quilting, liked to play cards and visit with people, and enjoyed children, often babysitting for the kids in the area where she lived. At the Waterville Lutheran Church, she was a janitor for a time and also served as secretary/treasurer for Sunday School. She was a member of WELCA, Mary Ruth Circle, and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Golden Girls Card Club, the Waterville Boosters, and was a volunteer at Makee Manor.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice (Mrs. Jim) Pfiffner of Harper Ferry; sons Walter Ronnfeldt and his wife Mary of Hartley, William Ronnfeldt and his wife Karen of Dell Rapids, S. D. , and Alfred and Robert Ronnfeldt of Waterville. Also, 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1993 at the Waterville Lutheran Church, Rev. Kim Thacker officiating. Burial was in the Waterville Lutheran Cemetery. Casket bearers were Greg Hamm, Jim Rathbun, Tom Ronnfeldt, Don Ronnfeldt, Dave Schom, Kevin Dundee, Gary Dundee, and Roy Ronnfeldt.
Arrangements were by the Martin Funeral Home, Waukon.
