VILE – At the home of her son James, in Waukon, April 16. 1898, Mrs. Mary BLACKMORE VILE, aged 95 years, 11 months and 2 days.

She was born in Chattlehampton, Devonshire, England, May 4, 1802. At the age of twenty-three she married John VILE. They came to Iowa in
May, 1858, and made their home with their son James in Ludlow township where Mr. VILE died 17 years ago. To them were born a son and four
daughters. The youngest, Mary, died at the age of 23; Elizabeth ANDERSON, now in California; Ann LEITHOLD of Ludlow twp., and Jane who has been with her brother James as the nurse of her mother for the past three years.

Mrs. VILE was a member of the Episcopal church and was a regular attendant as long as the services were held in Waukon. Afterward she
attended the M. E. church. She was very prompt and faithful in religious matters, very generous and open hearted, never turning away
the needy. She was an affectionate wife, a kind, loving mother, a constant friend, a true Christian. She was temperate in all things.

The funeral services were held at the home of her son James VILE. Sabbath p.m., April 17, 1898, Rev. R. L. VANNICE officiating.
