Truman Quandahl 1913-2002

Truman Quandahl, age 89, of Omaha, Neb., died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at The Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Memorial services were held Saturday, November 16, 2002, at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler West Center Chapel with Rev. David Boogert of Ralston United Church of Christ officiating.
Truman J. Quandahl was born April 18, 1913, in Quandahl, Iowa, to Jacob and Thea (Selness) Quandahl. He graduated from Spring Grove (Minn.) High School. He soon joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed at Fort Des Moines, where he met his wife, Pauline. They were married August 10, 1935. He worked for Wonder Bread Bakery in Des Moines for many years.
In 1961, they moved to Illinois. He worked for the Department of Public Health for the State of Illinois until he retired in 1977. In December 1998, they moved to the Omaha area because of failing health.
Truman's hobbies included traveling and buying new cars and visiting with his family.
Survivors include his son Paul (Barbara) of Ralston, Neb; a daughter, Thea Chandler of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and their spouses; two sisters, Evelyn Greenawald of Monticello and Barbara Palmer Bergeson of Waukon; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, his parents, his sister Helen Hanson, and grandson David Chandler.
